Job description

As a Senior Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment onboard. You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of machinery critical to production and storage processes. This role requires strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a challenging offshore environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, engines, and other machinery onboard the FPSO.
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tests on mechanical systems to identify and resolve issues promptly, minimizing downtime and optimizing production.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as operations, electrical, and instrumentation to ensure integrated functioning of mechanical systems.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of equipment overhauls, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory levels.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and assist in their training and development.
  • Monitor equipment performance parameters and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal efficiency and safety.
  • Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and the team.
  • Collaborate with vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs, spare parts procurement, and technical support
  •  Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory requirements related to mechanical systems in offshore environments.
  •  Actively participate in emergency response drills and procedures to ensure readiness for any potential incidents.

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Mechanical Technician in the offshore oil and gas industry, with specific experience on FPSOs preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, turbines, and rotating equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Hands-on experience with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and precision instruments.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols (e.g., API, ISO, HSE).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work in challenging offshore conditions for extended periods.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
